PSY 3507 Case Management: Assessment, Treatment Planning, Relapse Prevention and Aftercare
This course provides an overview of the case management process from an ecological perspective. Emphasis is on assessment, treatment planning, service coordination, documentation, and planning for relapse prevention, discharge, and aftercare. Skills including listening and responding, bringing up difficult issues, addressing and disarming anger, and assessing consumer strengths and weaknesses are explored. Consideration is given to cultural and diversity issues, as well as legal and ethical factors in substance abuse case management. Counselor Skill Groups addressed by this course include: clinical assessment; treatment planning; documentation; case management; discharge and continuing care; and legal, ethical, and professional development.
