PSY 3309 Ethical and Professional Issues in Addiction Counseling
Learners explore the ethical principles, legal issues, and decision-making processes in addressing complex dilemmas in the field of addiction. The course covers the Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) / The National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP) Code of Ethics; and the Code of Conduct for Credentialed Alcohol and Drug Professionals per the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP). Ethical issues associated with the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS are also addressed. Counselor Skill Groups addressed by this course include: counseling services; documentation and legal, ethical, and professional development.
