MFT 8000 Internship

This course provides the opportunity to gain experience with diverse populations in a supervised clinical setting approved by California Southern University. Trainees apply counseling theories and techniques as well as practice interpersonal skills in working with individuals, couples, families and/or groups. Trainees are required to complete a minimum of 190 hours of direct counseling with at least 38 units of supervision (1 unit of supervision = 1 hour of individual/triadic supervision or 2 hours of group supervision). The completion of all activities and submission of all documents is required to successfully complete this course. The final grade for the course is either Satisfactory (S) or Unsatisfactory (U).

This course is excluded from acceleration and may not be completed in less than 44 weeks without advanced approval. Please refer to the Practicum and Internship Handbook for more information regarding the required considerations for acceleration approval.
