Course-by-Course Admission
A course-by-course (or non-degree seeking) learner is one who wishes to enroll in courses at CalSouthern for professional or personal development but does not intend to pursue a degree at the time of application. Course-by-course applicants must submit the following in order to register for classes:
- A complete application and Enrollment Agreement for admission (Non-Degree seeking status)
- For associate- or bachelor-level course-by-course enrollment: complete attestation of earned high school diploma or college degree
- For master’s-level course-by-course enrollment: provide proof of an earned baccalaureate degree
- For doctoral-level course-by-course enrollment: provide proof of an earned master's degree
Enrollment in courses as a course-by-course learner does not guarantee acceptance into a degree program. After taking courses as a course-by-course learner, the learner must provide any other required admissions documentation and meet admissions requirements as noted in this catalog (see Admissions Criteria) to become a degree-seeking learner.
Course-by-course learners are not eligible to enroll in the following courses:
- Practicum
- Internship
- Comprehensive Exam
- Doctoral Project
- Psychological Assessment courses*
- Courses with prerequisites, unless prerequisites are met
- Any course with specialized requirements or availability as noted in the course description (for example, PSY 7529)
*These courses may be petitioned to be taken within a course-by-course (or non-degree seeking) enrollment if the learner has a completed or in-progress in-field doctoral degree. Such petitions must be approved by the Dean or designated academic official.
