Course Extensions and Incomplete Periods
Students may request a 7-day course incomplete period at no cost. Students are required to request the 7-day incomplete by the last day of the course. The student must also remain continuously enrolled by remaining registered in their next course for the term immediately following their current course’s original term end date. A student may only take one 7-day incomplete per course. Students that do not complete the course requirements by the end of the 7-day incomplete period may face the possible consequences of needing to repeat courses to meet the University’s expected academic grade performance requirements.
Students may request a 30-day course extension and must submit the extension request and pay for the extension request within seven days from the last day of the course (see Learner Fees section of this catalog). Extension requests submitted after this date will be denied. Course extensions may only granted once for each registered course. Students that do not complete the course requirements by the end of the 30-day extension may face the possible consequences of needing to repeat courses to meet the University’s expected academic grade performance requirements. Students may choose to cancel their request for a 30-day course extension. In order to receive a refund of the extension fee, the cancellation request must be made before the original course end date. All other cancel requests made after the original course end date for the course will not be approved for a refund.
Both the 30-day extension and the 7-day incomplete are measured in calendar days starting with the day after the course term end date, regardless of the date of request. If the extension or incomplete is requested after regular business hours or on holidays and weekends, this could result in the delay of processing the request and the time lost will not be credited. Students should ensure that extension or incomplete requests are made in advance to avoid any delays or lost time. Students are not allowed to combine a 30-day course extension and a 7-day incomplete for the same course. Students requesting to convert a 7-day incomplete into a 30-day extension must request this before the expiration of the original 7-day incomplete period. If the conversion of the 7-day incomplete to a 30-day extension is approved, the 30-day extension is measured in calendar days starting with the day after the original course term end date, not the end of the 7-day incomplete period.
